Free AI and developer tools for students in 2026: what is real, what expired, and what to skip
A checked list of student offers worth claiming, in the order that gets you the most for the least effort — including two widely repeated claims that turn out to be wrong.
Most student-offer round-ups are copied from each other, which is how the same two errors have spread across hundreds of pages. This list is ordered by what actually gets you the most value for the least effort, and every entry says whether we confirmed it against the brand's own page or are repeating someone else's claim.

A pattern worth noticing: MongoDB, Heroku, 1Password and DataCamp are all claimed through the GitHub Student Developer Pack rather than applied for separately. That is why the pack sits at the top of this list — the effort is front-loaded into a single verification.
What is worth skipping
Not every student offer deserves your time, and a list that only ever says yes is not useful.
- Offers with no stated end date and no verification date — you cannot tell whether they still exist.
- Discounts small enough that the verification effort exceeds the saving. A 10% discount on a cheap subscription is rarely worth a SheerID round trip.
- Anything requiring a payment method for a 'free' offer, unless you have set a reminder to cancel. Some legitimate offers do this, including Google's — that is not a scam, but it is a trap for the forgetful.
- Region-limited offers where your country is not named. 'Select markets' usually means North America and Western Europe.
Common questions
Do I need a .edu email?
Usually not, but it is the easiest path. Most programmes accept a student ID card, an enrolment letter or a transcript through SheerID or GitHub Education. Students at institutions without a recognised academic domain — common in Bangladesh — normally go the document route instead.
How long do these last?
Most renew annually while you remain enrolled, and require re-verification each year. A few are fixed-length regardless of enrolment — Heroku's credit runs 24 months, DataCamp's is three months. The listing for each offer records which.
Can I claim these after graduating?
No, and attempting it with out-of-date documents risks the account. What you can do is claim everything while you are still enrolled — several offers, once activated, run their full term even if you graduate partway through.
Why do some offers here say 'reported' instead of 'verified'?
Because we have not opened that brand's page ourselves. A reported offer means a named source says it exists and we are passing that on with the source attached, so you can check it. A verified offer means someone here opened the brand's own page on the date shown and read the terms off it. The two are not the same and we are not going to display them as if they were.
How to read any student offer, including ours
- Check the date it was last verified. An undated offer is not information.
- Check the region. 'Global' and 'select markets' are very different, and the second usually excludes South Asia.
- Open the brand's own page before you rely on the terms. Any site can be out of date, this one included.
- Prefer bundles. One verification that unlocks thirty offers beats thirty separate applications.
- Re-verify annually. Most of these renew only while you remain enrolled.
