Which Hostinger server location should you pick from Bangladesh?
Hostinger lets you choose the data centre, and from Dhaka the choice is genuinely between two of them. Here is which to pick, how to check you were right, and what server location does not fix.
Most hosting advice written for a Western audience skips server location entirely, because for a reader in London every option is close enough. From Dhaka it is the single setting that most changes how a site feels, and Hostinger is one of the providers that lets you choose it.
Where Hostinger's data centres are
Eight locations are available across the shared, WordPress and cloud plans:
- Asia — India, Singapore
- Europe — United Kingdom, France, Lithuania, the Netherlands
- Americas — United States, Brazil
From Bangladesh, only the first two are seriously in contention.
India or Singapore
Pick India if your visitors are in Bangladesh
It is the closest option geographically and usually the shortest network path from Bangladeshi ISPs. For a site whose audience is local — a business page, a local service, a Bangla-language blog — this is the default.
Pick Singapore if your audience is regional or mixed
Singapore is one of the best-connected hubs in Asia, and routing from Bangladesh to Singapore is often more consistent than the raw distance suggests. If you serve readers across Southeast Asia as well as at home, it is frequently the steadier choice.
What server location does not fix
It is worth being clear about the limits, because location is often sold as a cure-all and it is not.
- Static files — images, CSS, scripts — are served from the CDN that is included on the plans, not from the origin, so their distance to you barely matters.
- A slow site is far more often a heavy theme, unoptimised images or too many plugins than it is geography. Fix those first.
- Caching flattens most of the difference for repeat visitors. Location matters most for the first, uncached request.
- Database-heavy pages that cannot be cached — a cart, a logged-in dashboard — are where the location genuinely shows.
How to choose it, and change it later
- The location is chosen during setup in hPanel, when you create the website.
- If you picked wrong, it can be changed afterwards; expect a migration and some propagation time rather than an instant switch.
- Set the location before you have real traffic. Moving a busy site is a project, moving an empty one is a click.
How to test it properly
Two measurements tell you almost everything, and both are free.
- Latency: run a ping to a host in each region and compare the round-trip time. Under about 50ms feels instant; 100-150ms is fine; past 250ms a page starts to feel like it is thinking before it answers.
- Time to first byte: load a page in your browser's network panel and look at the wait before the first byte arrives. That is the number server location actually moves — everything after it is your site's own doing.
- Do both from a normal Bangladeshi connection, not a VPN, and at the hour your visitors are actually online. Evening congestion is real and it changes the answer.
What to do if you already chose wrong
The location is set when the website is created in hPanel, and it can be changed afterwards — but it is a migration, not a toggle. Expect the site to be copied and the change to take time to propagate.
This is why it is worth ten minutes at the start. Moving an empty site is trivial; moving one with traffic, mail and a search history attached is a job you will schedule for a quiet weekend.
Common questions
Does a nearer server improve my Google ranking?
Only through speed, and only as one input among many. Google measures the experience your visitors get, so a faster first byte helps — but a well-cached site on a distant server will beat a slow site on a near one.
Should I pick a location near me or near my visitors?
Near your visitors, always. You will load your own site a few hundred times; they will load it once each and judge it on that.
Is there a data centre in Bangladesh?
Not among Hostinger's locations. India is the nearest, with Singapore the strongest regional alternative — that is the honest shape of the choice rather than a compromise being dressed up.
Does this apply to email too?
Mail is far less sensitive to distance than page loads. A few hundred milliseconds is invisible on a message that takes seconds to deliver, so choose the location for your web visitors and let mail follow.
