About the Password Generator

Generate passwords that are genuinely random: they come from your browser's cryptographic random generator, never Math.random, and every character is equally likely. Choose the length and character types, leave out look-alike characters if you will type it by hand, and see how strong the result is.

How to use it

  1. 1Set the length — 16 or more is a good default.
  2. 2Choose which kinds of characters to include.
  3. 3Copy a password straight into your password manager.

Questions

Are the passwords sent or saved anywhere?

No. They are made in your browser and exist only on this page. Nothing is sent to KuponGuru or stored, and they are gone when you leave or generate new ones.

How long should a password be?

At least 12 characters, and 16 or more for anything important. Length adds more strength than symbols do, and a password manager means you never have to remember it.

What does the strength in bits mean?

It measures how many guesses a random password of that length and character set takes: every extra bit doubles it. Above 60 bits is strong for an online account; 100 bits or more is beyond any realistic attack.
