About the QR Code Scanner

Point your camera at a QR code, or drop in a screenshot or photo of one. The scanner reads it in your browser and tells you what it is — a link, a Wi-Fi network, a contact — and shows the full address before you decide to open it, because a code on a poster can point anywhere.

How to use it

  1. 1Press Start camera and allow access, or switch to Image and choose a screenshot or photo.
  2. 2Hold the code steady inside the frame.
  3. 3Read what the code contains, copy it, or open the link if you trust it.

Questions

Is the camera picture sent anywhere?

No. Frames from the camera are read in your browser and never uploaded or stored. The camera turns off as soon as a code is found or you leave the page.

Can a QR code be dangerous?

It can lead to a fake login page or a harmful download. That is why this scanner never opens a link by itself: check the address it shows — especially the part before the first single slash — before you open it.

Why is the camera not starting?

Your browser asks for permission first; if it was refused, allow the camera for this site in the browser's address bar settings. You can also scan from an image instead.
