Questions
How many square feet are in a katha, a decimal and a bigha?
Using the standard table: 1 decimal (shotok) is 435.6 square feet, 1 katha is 720 square feet, and 1 bigha is 20 katha, or 14,400 square feet. 1 acre is 100 decimals, or 60.5 katha.
Why are kani, gonda and kora not included?
Their size is not the same across Bangladesh — it depends on the district and on the measuring rod used locally — so any single figure would be wrong somewhere. Check with your local land office for those units.
What is a tola (bhori) in grams?
A tola is 180 grains, or 11.664 grams. It divides into 16 ana, and each ana into 6 rati, so a rati is about 0.1215 grams.
